New Initiative: European Peer Review Network |
Posted by European Peer Review Association (mariagg) on 11 Jun 2013 |
We are pleased to announce that the „European Peer Review Association“ was founded in March 2013 by members of the original European Peer Review projects. It has been set up as a non-profit membership association on the European level and is open to individuals and institutions active in education and training and related fields across Europe.
Why a European Peer Review Association?
When the third Peer Review project came to a close in 2009, a sustainable implementation of Peer Reviews on the European level was called for. An ENQAVET Thematic Working Group on Peer Review recommended setting up a European Peer Review network organised by a coordinating body.
Peer Review has since been recognised as a promising tool for quality assurance in many European countries. On the European level it has been included in the Leonardo da Vinci call for proposals. Consequently, Peer Review has been the subject of a number of Transfer of Innovation projects in the past years.
What are the aims of the European Peer Review Association?
The Association aims to promote the European Peer Review based on the methodology developed in the European projects.
- It will facilitate exchange and bring together the experiences of various national and European projects on Peer Review in a European Peer Review Network.
- It will provide a common framework and structure for implementing Peer Reviews in Europe. To this end, it will maintain a European Peer Review Register and offer a European Peer Review label to acknowledge institutions that successfully conducted a Peer Review.
What are the next steps?
The next steps will be to develop the network and its future activities jointly with its members. There are plans to organise European trainings and a first meeting of the network within the next year.
How can you become involved?
We therefore cordially invite you to sign up for further common activities and give us feedback on how you would like to become involved. You can either join the network right away or leave us your name and address in order to keep you informed.
